STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers (11-27, 2-13) will travel to Berkeley this Tuesday for one of the final non-conference matchups of the year. The Tigers are currently on a three-game winning streak against Cal (19-20, 10-11) after taking three of four in a series in 2021.
Brandon Motheral leads the team in batting average (.331), OPS (.907), slugging (.516) and hits (41). Motheral is second in home runs (6). After a 4-4 day on Sunday, Ben Nemivant has eclipsed the .300 mark (.306) and is second on the team in extra-base hits. Thomas Gavello leads the team in home runs (8), RBI (23), extra-base hits (18) and walks (19).
Jackson Vaughan leads the team in ERA (1.96) and is second in appearances (18) while being tied for the team lead in wins (2). Vaughan is the only pitcher on the staff with more than 20 innings pitched and less than 10 earned runs. Hunter Hayes leads the team in innings pitched (49.2) and strikeouts (44).
Gavello is tied for fourth in the WCC in home runs and is eighth in the conference in extra-base hits. Chaz Myers is sixth in total doubles. Motheral is eighth in batting average.
This season, Cal is 19-20 and sits at eighth in the Pac-12. Pacific is sandwiched between two ranked opponents for the Bears. Cal dropped two of three against #13 UCLA last week and will travel to Eugene next weekend to take on #25 Oregon.
