BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Sophomore Elizabeth Elliott tied her season high in scoring against CSU Bakersfield (3–5) with 17 points. It was not enough, as Pacific (5–7, 0–1) fell to CSU Bakersfield 54-41.
Elliot led the Tigers with nine rebounds and went five for six from the free-throw line. Sophomore Anaya James scored nine points and added a team-high four steals and 37 minutes played. Senior Sam Ashby had five rebounds and four assists in the effort.
The first quarter was the closest of the game, as Pacific fought back from an early deficit to take the lead in the quarter's final seconds on two Elliott free-throws. It was the highest-scoring quarter of the day for the Tigers.
CSU Bakersfield regained the lead early in the second quarter before a 4-0 run from Pacific put the Tigers up by one with just under four minutes remaining. CSU Bakersfield would regain the lead on the next possession and not look back, taking a five-point lead into the half.
The second half was all Roadrunners, scoring 18 points in the third quarter while holding the Tigers to nine points. Pacific outscored CSU Bakersfield by one in the fourth but could not make a complete comeback.
