Pacific's Liam Egan Wins Elite 90 Award For NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship

STOCKTON, Calif. – Liam Egan, a senior at University of the Pacific, is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2022 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship.
 
Egan, majoring in Business Administration with a focus in Finance, currently carries a 3.94 GPA. Egan was presented with the award during the championship banquet on Friday evening in Berkeley.
 
"We are so incredibly proud of Liam and his passion and perseverance in the pool and the classroom," said Head Coach James Graham. "He sets the standard of excellence and is a model of what can be achieved as a student-athlete at Pacific."
 
This is Pacific's fifth Elite 90 award. Andrea De Nardi of Pacific's men's water polo program won the award in 2018 and 2020, and Viktoria Tamas of Pacific's women's water polo program won the award in 2018 and 2019.
 
"Liam truly embodies the spirit of this award as he continues to represent Pacific with pride and excellence in every way," said Director of Athletics Janet Lucas. "He joins the best of the best with this recognition, and we are extremely proud of him for his success in the classroom and in competition."
 
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers.

The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
