STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team landed three West Coast Conference All-Conference selections, as announced by the league office on Monday. Biamba Kabengele earned first-team honors, while Alexa Edwards and Jadyn Tubbs were selected as Honorable Mentions.
"These three are well deserving of this honor as they come in daily with a growth mindset and push themselves, Head Coach Greg Gibbons said on the honorees. "We are in an extremely competitive conference with some great players, and they have earned the right to sit amongst them and continue to elevate our program."
In her first season with the team, Kabengele helped propel the Tigers offensively throughout league play, recording a team-high 220 kills in 15 conference matches. Registering her best-ever season, Kabengele accumulated a career-high 294 total kills and a 3.30 kills per set ser ratio, ranking seventh best in the league. In 24 matches played, the senior from Burlington, Ontario, surpassed the 20-kill threshold in a match three times and tallied a career-high 27 kills in the win at Saint Mary's on October 28.
The conference also recognized Edwards and Tubbs as the duo was named All-WCC Honorable Mentions. Throughout the season, Edwards ranked among the league's best offensive players, leading the team and ranking third in the conference in total kills with 392. The junior from Sacramento, Calif., also ranked fourth in the conference with a 3.53 kills per set ratio and ranked second on the team in service aces with 45.
Tubbs led the team defensively in her final season of competition, tallying a team-high 294 digs. Ranking fourth in the conference in digs per set with 3.77, Tubbs finished the regular season third all-time in program history in digs with 1,834. The graduate student from Turlock, Calif., also ranks fifth all-time in digs in a season with 509, set during the 2019 season.
Pacific is set to play Omaha on Friday, Dec. 2, as the Tigers compete in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship in Portland, Ore.
