STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team (3-2) hosts the Tiger Turkey Tip-Off this weekend. Wyoming (2-2) and UC Davis (2-2) travel to Stockton to participate in the tournament.
The Tigers are coming off a 74-point win over the Academy of Art. Sophomore
Anaya James recorded her second career triple-double, while junior
Kadie Deaton recorded her first double-double with the team.
James leads the team in scoring, averaging 14 points per game and assists, with 31 through five games. Senior
Sam Ashby leads the team in rebounds, with 7.0 per game. Juniors
Liz Smith and
Cecilia Holmberg are both averaging double-digit scoring. Seven Tigers shoot over 40% from the field, while three shoots above 40% from three. Ashby leads the team in steals, and Holmberg leads the squad in blocks.
Wyoming is coming off a three-game homestand in which the Cowgirls went 2-1. Grace Ellis leads the team in scoring, averaging 13 points per game. Wyoming is averaging under 63 points per game this season, but the Cowgirl defense allows opponents to score just 55.5 points per game. Wyoming opponents are shooting 35.4% overall and 23.1% from beyond the arc. Wyoming is also out-rebounding teams by over four boards per contest and is averaging less than 10 turnovers per game.
UC Davis is coming off a 67-45 loss against Sacramento State. The Aggies have only scored over 70 points once this season, in their first game against Bethel College. UC Davis averages 64.5 points per game while shooting 41.4% from the field as a team. Evanne Turner is averaging 22 points per game to lead the Aggies, and she is the only player averaging over 10 points per game.
