STOCKTON, Calif. – Like a great painter with their brush, sophomore
Anaya James was masterful in the Tigers (3-2) dominant win over the Academy of Art (0-5); recording her second career triple-double in the 90-26 win.
"It is exactly what we needed," said Head Coach
Bradley Davis. "To get our bench going and get our new players like Kadie and Syndey significant time where they can show who they are and get them more comfortable with the offense and the scheme."
The Tigers set seasons highs in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks. James scored 21 points, dished out 12 assists, grabbed 10 rebounds and did not miss a shot in the winning effort. Junior
Kadie Deaton was a force for the Tigers, scoring 12 points and leading the team with 12 rebounds. Junior
Cecilia Holmberg set a career-high with 16 points, junior
Madelene Ennis tied her career-high with 10 points. Junior
Liz Smith continued her streak of scoring in double figures in each game this season.
Pacific got out to an early 12-0 lead and did not look back, leading by double-digits for the rest of the game. The Tigers shot 54.5% from the field in the first quarter and 50% from three, as the size of Pacific was a considerable factor in the dominance during the game.
The second quarter was the only quarter in which the Academy of Art reached double-digit scoring, hitting 10 points and four free throws. Pacific added 21 points while outrebounding the Academy of Art 14-3.
With the game never in doubt in the second half, the Tigers cruised, scoring 42 points while holding the Urban Knights to just nine second-half points. All 11 active players got in the game for the Tigers, and James was the only Tiger to play over 30 minutes of game time. The significant lead allowed Head Coach
Bradley Davis to try different combinations on the floor in preparation for the Tigers Turkey Tip-Off this weekend.
The Tigers are back in action at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, hosting Wyoming at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
