STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team (2-1) starts a five-game homestand at 4 p.m. on Friday against Rice (3-0).
The game was initially scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 but was moved to Friday, Nov. 18.
Both squads are coming off big road wins. Pacific rode a fourth-quarter comeback to down Nevada 76-71. On Wednesday, Rice scored 20+ in three of four quarters in its win over Saint Mary's.
Junior
Liz Smith leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game. Sophomores
Elizabeth Elliott and
Anaya James are also averaging at least 10 points a game to start the season. Senior
Sam Ashby leads the team in rebounding with 23 rebounds and in offensive rebounds with 10. Ashby also leads the team in steals with seven. James leads the team with assists with 13, nine more than second place.
Rice has started the season with an undefeated record, winning each game by at least 10 points. The Owls have averaged 83.7 points per game, while Malia Fisher leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game. The Owls are looking to improve on a 14-13 2021-22 season, making it to the second round of the Conference USA tournament.
