STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team (1-1) heads out of state for the first time this season to take on Nevada (0-1).
Sophomore
Anaya James and junior
Liz Smith lead the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game. Senior
Sam Ashby leads the team in rebounding with 12 total rebounds. James leads the team in assists with seven, while Ashby and junior
Cecilia Holmberg led the team in steals with three. As a team, the Tigers are averaging 40.5 rebounds a game, three more than their opponents.
Nevada dropped its first game against Saint Mary's, coming off a 20-13 record in the 2021-22 season; the Wolfpack looks to continue their success in a strong Mountain West Conference. In its first game, Nevada was outrebounded 42 to 26. Alyssa Jimenez leads the team in scoring with 13 points per game.
The two squads played in an overtime thriller last season at the Alex G. Spanos Center, which ended in an 80-77 Wolfpack win. James led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Ashby added 17. It was the first loss for the Tigers in five meetings between the two squads.
