SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Pacific women's swim team (3-3) dropped one to San Jose State (2-0) Friday afternoon, 144-80.
"Tough loss for the ladies; they swam better than us today," said Head Coach Katelyne Herrington. "We had quite a few season best times and close finishes, but not enough to repeat our victory from last year."
The Tigers swept the 1000 yard freestyle with freshman Diana Chan taking first, sophomore Jaydn Phillips taking second and sophomore Ellie Macphail taking third.
In the 500 yard freestyle, Philips and sophomore Jordyn Gonzales came out on top, finishing first and second, respectively.
There were several other second-place finishes on the day, including sophomore Kelly Kermoian in the 200 yard freestyle, freshman Deanna Brazil in the 50 yard freestyle and sophomore Paige Sondgeroth in the 100 yard freestyle.Â
Sondgeroth came in third in the 50 yard breaststroke, and sophomore Alexia Ferguson also finished third in the 50 yard freestyle.
The Tigers' next meet is at home against CSUÂ Bakersfield at noon on Nov. 5 at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
