Tigers Show Immense Fight Against Hawaii

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's tennis team battled to the end in both singles and doubles competition, but dropped a competitive 0-7 match to Hawaii Wednesday afternoon at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.

Doubles
  • Freshmen Coby McCaig and Manroop Saini put up a fight on three with the 4-6 defeat, but it was only the beginning of the match-long fight the Tigers would put up.
  • Nathan Hampton and Toi Kobayashi battled Hawaii's Blaz Seric and Axel Labrunie to a 5-7 decision, while Preseason All-WCC sophomore Philip Hjorth and Akram El Sallaly went the distance and then some on one. The duo ended up falling 6-7 (5) on one.
Singles
  • Pacific went down 0-3 in singles with matches on four, six and one, but battled back with John Horoz Garner forcing his match on three to three sets.
  • Hampton pushed both sets of his match on two to a seventh point, while Saini closed out the match on five with a hard-fought three-set defeat. Saini battled back to win the second set after pushing set one to a tiebreaker, then battled in an epic 4-10 decision in set three.
