STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team aims to win their second straight game when they welcome San Diego (8-15, 1-7) to the Alex G. Spanos Center on Saturday night.
Fresh off twelve-point win over LMU in which the Tigers shot 48 percent overall and 43 percent from behind-the-arc, UOP will look to defeat the Toreros for the fifth time in the last six games.

LAST TIME OUT:
- The Tigers took the lead out of the gates and never looked back in their matchup against LMU on Thursday, Jan. 30, using eight early points from freshman Daniss Jenkins to take an 8-0 lead just 2:30 into the contest. Pacific went on to defeat the Lions, 62-50.
- Finishing with his second highest point total of the season, Jenkins was named the City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game for the first time this season after tallying 16 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 block.
- Contributing when called upon, senior Justin Moore and graduate transfer Austin Vereen each recorded 9 points each in the victory while senior Jahlil Tripp added 7 points.
- UOP led the Lions in second chance points (9-4), bench points (26-19) and fast break points (4-1).
THINGS TO KNOW:
- Pacific leads the WCC in scoring defense (64.8), rebounding defense (28.0) and defensive rebound percentage (.796) while also placing second in the conference in rebounding offense (36.4), rebounding margin (+8.4), offensive rebounds (11.2) and offensive rebounding percentage (.341).
- Tripp has scored double-figures in 18 games this season, averaging a team-leading 15.4 points per game, which ranks eighth in the WCC. Justin Moore has scored double-figures in 11 of his 19 games played this season, averaging 9.5 points per game, good for second on the team.
- The Tigers continue to show progress in multiple areas this season, as Tripp currently leads the WCC in rebounds per game (8.2) while also ranking third in the conference in steals per game (1.5). Additionally, junior James Hampshire is second in blocks per game (1.2).
- Freshman Pierre Crockrell II is impressing in her first season in Stockton, leading the WCC in assist/turnover ratio (3.8) while also ranking tenth in assists per game (3.6).
SCOUTING THE TOREROS:
- Saturday will be the 22nd all-time meeting between USD and Pacific. The Tigers lead the overall series, 13-8. However, the Toreros took the lone matchup in 2019, a 73-64 win in San Diego on January 5.
- UOP has defeated USD in four of the last five games, with the Toreros holding a 2-9 record at the Spanos Center.
- Redshirt freshman Marion Humphrey, who returned to the starting lineup on Thursday, Jan. 30 against San Francisco, had three of USD's ten assists in the game. The point guard has three or more assists in seven of the last 10 games. Over the last 10 contests, Humphrey is averaging 3.2 assists and has a 2.3 assist/turnover ratio. His totals include 32 assists and 14 turnovers.
- Braun Hartfield, the team's leading scorer, is averaging 14.2 points per game on 21-of-64 (32.8 percent) in the last five games. Furthermore, the redshirt junior is also grabbing 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 80.8 percent (21-of-26) from the stripe over the stretch.
- Hartfield has also scored in double-figures in 17 games, leading teammate Joey Calcaterra (15) by two.
- Yauhen Massalski totaled three blocks against Santa Clara on Saturday, Jan. 25, his 16th career game with three or more blocks. Overall, he currently ranks fifth in program history with 113 career block and is the fifth Torero to have 100+ blocks in his career. Massalski has now recorded 40+ blocks in each of his first two seasons in San Diego as well.
