Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Stepping back onto the hardwood for the first time since Dec. 2, the Pacific men's basketball team picked up their third win of the season on Sunday evening, cruising past Westmont College, 92-64, at Murchison Gymnasium.
Despite the lay-off in game action, the Tigers didn't skip a beat as a team against the Warriors as all twelve active players scored for Pacific in the victory.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Making his presence known out of the gates, senior Jeremiah Bailey began the scoring for both teams on a layup just 40 seconds into regulation, giving Pacific the early 2-0 advantage.
- Following a run by the Warriors that say them briefly jump out in front, the Tigers did not regain the lead over Westmont until senior Broc Finstuen converted an and-one at the 9:35 mark to put UOP back out in front, 14-11.
- Finding their grove, Pacific spread the wealth in the first half as eight of the twelve Tigers scored at least two points, including sophomore Jalen Brown, who tallied 2 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in the opening minutes of his career in the orange & black.
- Extending their lead to as many as 13 points, Pacific was in control at the halftime break, on top 41-28 heading into the locker room.
- Wasting no time, the Tigers used a 9-0 run to push the gap to 20 after a layup from sophomore Pierre Crockrell II at 17:18.
- With buckets pouring in from all angles, Pacific tied their largest lead (32) of the contest on an acrobatic layup from sophomore Takori Rooks.
- Providing a spark off the bench, senior Jervay Green netted his first points as a Tiger as well, including two free throws at 1:32 to keep Pacific in command, 92-62. Overall, the transfer from Nebraska recorded 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal for UOP.
- Cruising to the finish line, Pacific dominated down the stretch to notch their third victory of the season, 92-64, which also marked the first road win of the year for the Tigers.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- For the second time in four games, Bailey was named the Hardworking Player of the Game after tallying his second straight double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds (also added 2 assists, 1 steal).
- Delivering when called upon, Finstuen (16) and Jenkins (11) each recorded double figures in scoring for the third consecutive games.
- Transfers Jordan Bell and Nigel Shadd each added 8 points apiece while Brown finished with 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in his debut.
- Ironically, four Tigers finished with four points: Crockrell, Rooks, senior Justin Moore and sophomore Jonathan Salazar.
- As a team, Pacific shot 47.8 percent overall from the floor while limiting the Warriors to just 33.3 percent shooting.
