WCC Announces 2020-21 Women's Basketball Conference Schedule

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference officially announced its 2020-21 women's basketball conference schedule Tuesday in advance of another compelling year. The race for the WCC regular season crown will stretch over a 10-week span, featuring 18 conference games, with WCC play slated to begin on Monday, December 28, 2020 and conclude on Saturday, February 27.

Pacific, who completed the 2019-20 season with a 17-14 overall record, continues to push upwards as the Tigers finished fifth in the conference (9-9) during the regular season before cruising past Santa Clara in the first round of the WCC Tournament last year.

As a conference, five WCC teams concluded the 2019-20 season in the top-150 ranking in the final NCAA RPI Report, headlined by defending regular season champion Gonzaga (No. 12). BYU (No. 94), Portland (103), San Diego (111) and Pacific (134) followed in suit.

Individually, senior leaders Valerie Higgins and Brooklyn McDavid are poised to lead the Tigers to the promised land in their final season in Stockton after the two Los Angeles natives were both named WCC First Team selections in 2019-20.

As one of three schools with two First Team honorees last season, Higgins led the conference and was sixth in the NCAA with 98 total steals, in addition to finishing the regular season second amongst her WCC competitors with averages of 16.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Personally, this award marked the second straight First Team honor for the versatile guard, who was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Year in 2018-19 after tallying 99 steals and 38 blocks while averaging 9.0 rebounds per game. Additionally, her total of 550 points (17.2 average) in 2018-19 currently sits second-all time in Pacific single-season history.

For McDavid, the 6'1" forward aims to dominate down low once again. Although it was her third straight season earning all-conference honors, 2019-20 marked the first time McDavid had earned a spot on the First Team. Overall, she averaged 14.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while also racking up 27 steals, 14 assists and 8 blocks for the Tigers.

In the classroom, Pacific also hopes to continue their positive trends as a program-record five student-athletes earned All-Academic honors in 2019-20: Sofie Tryggedsson, Callie Kaiser, Jessica Blakeslee, Josephine Millard and Kaylin Randhawa.

The West Coast Conference plans to celebrate its 13th year in Las Vegas when the 2021 West Coast Conference Basketball Tournaments return to the Orleans Arena from March 4-9.

Fans can expect an announcement regarding the full slate of WCC broadcasts in the coming weeks. Tip-off times are to be determined.
