Pacific Looks to Break Skid vs. LMU

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team (15-8, 3-4) will look to break their three-game skid on Thursday night when they host Loyola Marymount (8-13, 2-5) at the Spanos Center.
 
The Tigers are aiming to get their first win on their home court since the four-overtime thriller against Saint Mary's on Jan. 4.

LAST TIME OUT:
  • Facing arguably their toughest test of the year, Pacific fell to No. 2/1 Gonzaga in Spokane by a final score of 92-59.
  • Senior Jahlil Tripp was tabbed the City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game after recording his sixth 20-point game of the season with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
  • Freshman Pierre Crockrell II finished with his second-highest point total of the season, scoring 10 points and reaching double figures for just the second time this year.
  • Providing a spark when needed, Pacific led Gonzaga in bench points, 20-18.
THINGS TO KNOW:
  • Pacific leads the WCC in rebounding defense (28.4) and defensive rebound percentage (.795) while also placing second in the conference in scoring defense (65.4), field goal percentage defense (.411), rebounding offense (36.9), rebounding margin (+8.5), blocked shots (4.0), offensive rebounds (11.3) and offensive rebounding percentage (.342).
  • Tripp has scored double-figures in 18 games this season, averaging a team-leading 15.7 points per game, which ranks sixth in the WCC. Justin Moore has scored double-figures in 11 of his 18 games played this season, averaging 9.6 points per game, good for second on the team.
  • The Tigers continue to show their improvement on defense this season, as Tripp is currently third in the conference in steals per game (1.6) while junior James Hampshire is second in blocks per game (1.3).
  • Crockrell is proving to be a consistent floor general for UOP, leading the WCC in assist/turnover ratio (3.7) while also ranking tenth in assists per game (3.7).
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
  • LMU split their two contests at home last week, defeating Portland (77-65) before ultimately falling to Saint Mary's (73-62).
  • Since rejoining the WCC in 2013-14, the Lions are 12-4 against Pacific, including three straight wins against the Tigers. UOP last defeated their conference foe on Dec. 30, 2017 in an 88-82 overtime victory at the Spanos Center.
  • Eli Scott is five rebounds shy of becoming LMU's 28th member of the 500-rebound club. The junior ranks seventh in the WCC with 7.8 rebounds per game this season, one of several statistical categories that Scott ranks in the top-eight in.
  • The Lions share similar strong points to Pacific, placing fourth in the conference in scoring defense (68.1), third in rebounding defense (30.5) and fifth in steals per gsame (6.2).
