Watson Qualifies for USTA Solinco Wild Card Shootout after 3-0 Outing

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific singles and doubles tandems were in action this weekend in Napa, Calif., highlighted by Ross Watson going 3-0 at the Audi Napa Valley Tennis Classic to qualify for the USTA Solinco Wild Card Shootout. 

Singles:
  • Pacific opened the Classic with a pair of straight set wins on day one, as Philip Hjorth defeated Baylor's Constantin Frantzen, 6-3, 6-4. Watson then finished off Harvard's Constantin Zoske, 6-2, 7-5. 
  • Watson kept it up on day two with another straight set win over Cal's Can Kaya, 6-4, 6-4. 
  • The senior clinched the bracket and his spot in the Wild Card shootout on day three with a win over USTA's Samir Banerjee.
  • Pacific struggled on day one at the Silverado College Invitational, going 1-3 against UNLV.
  • UOP had a tough go against Oklahoma State with John Horoz Garner picking up the lone Tigers win in straight sets over the Cowboys' Emile Hudd, 6-3, 6-3.  
Doubles:
  • The Tigers had a rough going in the doubles department on the weekend, going 0-2 against Oklahoma State, Hawaii and San Diego State at the Silverado Invitational. 
Up Next:
