IRVINE, Calif. – Despite nearly overcoming a 21-point UC Irvine lead, the Pacific men's basketball team (12-4) fell to the Anteaters, 69-56, Saturday night at the Bren Events Center.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
First Half
	- The score was tied five times, all in the first 11 minutes of the game. Gary Chivichyan knocked down a turnaround jumper at 10:41 to tie the game for the final time (12-12).  
- UC Irvine then went on an 21-5 run from 9:59-3:08 to gain its largest lead of the half (15 pts.)
- In the final three minutes, Pacific outscored UC Irvine 8-2. 
- Chivichyan led the Tigers in the first half with five points, thanks to a 3-for-5 effort from the free throw line. 
- Jahlil Tripp pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
Second Half
	- Pacific was outscored 13-2 to open the second half, which led to UC Irvine's largest lead of the game (48-27).
- The Tigers slowly chipped away at the Anteaters lead, holding them from scoring for nearly seven minutes (13:03-7:17). During the run, Tripp scored six points and Chivichyan totaled four points to help bring the Tigers back within six points (50-44).
- The closest Pacific would come to UCI would be at the 3:00 mark, when Chivichyan banked a three-pointer off the glass to put the Tigers within one score (56-53) of the Anteaters.
- UCI held Pacific to just three points in the final three minutes to claim its eighth victory on the season.
 
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
	- Tripp earned City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game honors after totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds in the second half en route to his fourth double-double of the season, which included a total of 14 points and 15 rebounds. 
- Chivichyan also scored in double figures, shooting 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from the free throw line for a total of 14 points.
- Pacific held the edge in second chance points (13-10) and points in the paint (30-26).
 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Pacific will open West Coast Conference (WCC) play next week when it travels to Pepperdine on Jan. 2 and hosts Saint Mary's on Jan. 4.
