Pacific Tops UC Santa Cruz

SAN JOSE, Calif – The Pacific men's swimming and diving team snagged a victory in its duel meet with UC Santa Cruz, which took place at San Jose State on Saturday morning.

The Tigers defeated the Banana Slugs by a score of 205-82. 

In the two relay events the Tigers took home a victory in the 200 Medley Relay and finished third in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Walker Wilson, Brandon Reno, Michael Kang and David Noyes combined for a 1:36.61 mark in the 200 Medley Relay. In the 400 Free Relay, Logan Heaney, Christian Schroeder, Winston Fong, and Nicholas Cisco recorded a time of 3:27.14.

Kang had an outstanding day in the pool, also taking home three individual victories in the 200 Freestyle (1:43.40), 200 Butterfly (1:55.02), and the 500 Freestyle (4:46.56).

Freshman Richard Lewis opened the individual races with a win in the 1000 Freestyle, clocking a time of 10:06.88. Lewis went on to record a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke (2:00.05) and the 500 Free (4:49.19). 

Wilson, who swam the opening leg of the 200 Medley Relay, also finished first in the 100 Backstroke (53.00) and the 200 Backstroke (1:57.70). 

Pacific claimed 1-2-3 in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke. Following Yang in the 200 Free were David Noyes (2nd, 1:43.63) and Jonathan Tan (3rd, 1:46.52). Noah Snyder was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 58.89. Brandon Reno finished second (1:00.08) and Andrew Davis was third (1:00.88).

Snyder was the Tigers top finisher in the 200 Breaststroke (2:11.81) and in the 200 IM (2:03.16), while Noyes claimed a win in the 100 Free (47.95) and Tan in the 100 Fly (52.44).

Mackaby Pennington first and second in the 3-meter and 1-meter dives, respectively. He finished with 314.3 points in the 3-meter and 240.15 in the 1-meter.

Pacific will take a two-week break from competition before traveling to Fresno Pacific on Nov. 16. The Tigers will round out 2019 action mid-December when they attend the Annual UNLV Invite.
