STOCKTON, Calif. – After a late start, the University of the Pacific baseball team fell in game two of the series against the University of San Diego, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers fall to 7-15 overall and 0-5 in conference action, while the Toreros improve to 12-11 on the season and 3-2 in West Coast Conference play.

After five scoreless, the bats started to fly but in favor of USD. At the top of the sixth with one out, Jeff Houghtby hit a single to left field to start things off for the Toreros. Garrett Calvert followed suit with a single to right center to advance Houghtby to second.

With two outs and runners on second and third, Daniel Gardner shot a double to right center to score Calvert and Houghtby for the 2-0 lead.

From there, the Toreros went on to score five more runs in the top of the seventh and two in the ninth to claim the victory, 9-0.

The Orange and Black tallied eight hits with four of them coming from Alex LeForestier. LeForestier knocked the first hit of the game in the third with a single to the pitcher. He went 4-for-4 from the plate in his second collegiate start.

Nate Verlin was right behind going 2-for-4 from the plate. Lucas Halstead and James Free each tallied one hit, as well.

On the mound, Ricky Reynoso was charged with the loss after pitching 5.2 innings with two strikeouts. Toreros' pitcher, Chris Murphy, picked up the win after pitching 7.2 innings with 11 strikeouts.

The Tigers return to action tomorrow for the final game of the series against USD with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
