HARRISONBURG, Va. - Wouter Verstraaten's goal in the 83rd minute helped the Pacific men's soccer team top Virginia Tech 1-0 on Friday afternoon. Charles Brewah and Diego Villapudua both recorded their first collegiate assist, and goalie Curtis Goldsmith logged three saves in the victory. 

Pacific improves to a perfect 3-0 on the year while the loss drops the Hokies to 1-2 overall.

The Tigers pressured early with two quick shots by Alfredo Alcala and Wouter Verstraaten that required saves by the Hokie goalie. The scoreless first half featured three total shots by Pacific, and stout defense by the Tigers as they held Virginia Tech to no shots on goal in the first 45 minutes of play.

The back-and-forth rolled over into the second half as both sides continued to look to get on the board. It took until the 75th minute for the Hokies to record a shot on goal as Marcelo Acuna ripped a pair of shots that were saved by 'keeper Curtis Goldsmith. 

Going the other way, Verstraaten was finally able to break the scoreless tie in the 83rd minute on an assist from Charles Brewah and Diego Villapudua. Verstraaten received the ball on the left side of the box, and the defender punched it in for his first goal of the season.

Pacific registered seven shots on the day, with Verstraaten and Villapudua both taking a pair. The Hokies were limited to just three shots on goal on 12 total opportunities.
