Played in 18 games for the Tigers on the season. Was a pivotal piece of a defensive line that posted 7 shutouts on the season. Scored a game-tying goal on the road at Western Michigan on Sept. 30. Took a season-high three shots against Western Michigan.
2017 (Junior):

WCC Player of the Week (1x)
Started in all 19 games, one of five players to do so. Had three goals, the fourth-most on the team. Took nine shots on the season, five of which were on goal for a shot on goal percentage of .556, the fourth-best mark on the team. Scored game-winning goals in back-to-back games against Virginia Tech and James Madison.
2016 (Sophomore):
Started all 19 games for the Orange and Black. Verstraaten rifled off 19 shots on the year, which was the second most of any defender on the team. Dished his first collegiate assist against Sacramento State (Sep. 4) and added his first collegiate goal the following game against UNLV (Sep. 4). The sophomore was named to the WCC Second Team following the regular season.
High School:
Wouter Verstraaten is a 6-1 defender from Heeze, Netherlands. He attended Sint-Joriscollege, graduating in 2014 before moving on to Tilburg University for the last two years. Verstraaten also played in the PSV Eindhoven Academy. As a youth player from the age of eight, he developed in the PSV system which is generally recognized as one of the best academies in Europe.
