Box Score Stockton, Calif. - The America East Conference announced its weekly awards today, with Pacific's Marguerite van Wyk being awarded the Rookie of the Week for her stellar play on Pacific's road trip. The sophomore put up a five-point game in just her fourth collegiate appearance to guide Pacific to an easy win and a 2-1 record on the week.
Van Wyk scored two goals and added an assist against Bryant on the road trip, leading Pacific to a 5-0 win. Van Wyk scored or assisted on the first three goals of the game, wrapping up the win all by herself in the first 27 minutes.
The South Africa native is currently leading Pacific in points with nine through five games. She has three goals and three assists, both tied for the most on the team. She is shooting an impressive .300 on the season and has had half of her ten shots go on goal.
Van Wyk has been held scoreless just twice thus far. She has three multi-point games and has recorded at least one shot in four of five games.
