Box Score Stockton, Calif. - College Sports Madness named Gio Brusa their WCC Player of the Week after his impressive showing on the road against Fresno State and Portland. The Tigers went 4-0 this week, helped along by Brusa's bat. The senior outfielder was also honored as the Player of the Week by the West Coast Conference.
Brusa hit three homers on the week and added a double. He now has eight homeruns, double his single-season total from any other year at Pacific and good enough for third place in the WCC.
After starting the Portland series 6-for-7 with two homers, three runs, and four RBI, Brusa was never given another pitch to hit. He was intentionally walked five times in the series and was walked in all five of his plate appearances on Sunday, setting a new school record for walks in a game. Brusa came just one walk away from matching the NCAA record.
Brusa ended the week having reached base 11 consecutive times. In the Portland series, he reached base 14 of 15 times he came up to the plate. Brusa hit .636/.789/1.545 on the week.
