Tempe, Ariz. - The No. 12 Pacific women's water polo team rolled over Pomona-Pitzer, 13-2, and No. 23 Marist, 8-4 at the Arizona State Invitational Saturday.
Rachel Krieger tallied seven goals in the two games, with a four against Pomona-Pitzer and three against Marist.
Aelish Guinn scored twice against Marist and one against Pomona-Pitzer.
Karolina Hlavata matched Krieger with four goals against Pomona-Pitzer, while Megan Torre added two goals and Brittany Barthels, Aelish Guinn, and Elise Whittall each added one.
The Tigers scored 13 goals on 26 shots, and held the Sagehens to two goals on 18 shots. Meghan Nee made seven saves in goal for the Tigers.
Hlavata tallied the only goal of the first quarter, while Krieger, Hlavata and Torre tallied for a 4-0 lead at halftime. Pacific unloaded a 5-0 third quarter and led 10-0 before the Sagehens got on the board.
Against Marist, Ellen Tiedemann and Krieger opened the scoring in the first. Amanda Amorosa got the Red Foxes on the board, before Krieger and Hlavata tallied to give Pacific a 4-1 lead after one.
Guinn scored the lone goal of the second quarter. In the third, Amorosa scored to cut the gap to 5-2, but Krieger restored a four-goal lead. Nastassia McGlothlin cut the Marist deficit to 6-3 headed into the fourth.
Viktoria Szmodics' goal with 6:18 left in the fourth put Pacific up by four, 7-3, before Amorosa picked up her third. Guinn capped the scoring with a goal off an assist from Tiedemann to settle on the final margin.
The Tigers improve to 8-12 overall. Pacific will face No. 5 Michigan (8 a.m.) and No. 6 Arizona State (3:30 p.m.) on Sunday.
