Elman Leads Volleyball To Sweep At USF

SAN FRANCISCO - Lexi Elman tallied 12 kills, and six digs and a pair of blocks as the Pacific volleyball team wrapped the regular season with a 3-0 sweep at San Francisco Tuesday night, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18.

Emily Baptsita added eight kills with five blocks, while Ashlyn Fleming chipped in seven kills and four blocks. Janie Feldsher delivered five kills while hitting .571 and posting four blocks. Skylar Wine hit .300 with five kills.

Defenisvely, Katrin Gotterba recorded 12 digs while Maycie LaBass tallied nine as Pacific held USF to a .000 hitting percentage for the match.  The Tigers owned an advantage in digs, 39-20.

The Tigers finish the regular season at 15-15 overall, 9-9 in West Coast Conference play. San Francisco falls to 4-27 overall, 0-18 in the WCC.

Pacific opened to a 3-1 lead in set one as Elman posted back-to-back kills. Fleming teamed with Baptista for a block and then added a kill for a 7-1 Pacific edge. Elman stretched the lead to 10-3, before USF narrowed the gap. The Dons pulled within 15-12 before the Tiger closed with a 10-4 run. Fleming started the run with a kill, and Baptista added a kill and a block. After a USF ace, and a pair of Dons ball handling errors, Baptista delivered a kill and the Tigers picked up two errors to seal the 25-16 win.

In set two, Pacific reeled off a 7-1 run to open featuring a pair of blocks from Baptista and Janie Feldsher while Baptist an Fleming each posted kills. Shelton capped the run with an ace. The Dons pulled within 10-7 before a Shelton kill, but then a block by USF and a kill from Emily Reed brought the home team within 12-11. Fleming responded with a kill, and Feldsher put the Tigers up 14-12. Shelton delivered an ace as part of three straight Pacific points, and Baptista's kill put the Tigers in control, 22-14. Feldseher and Elman posted kills, and Fleming delivered the set-winning point on a kill, 25-17.

Jessica Diederich posed a kill to give Pacific the serve, and Elman rattled off five straight points for the Tigers, including an ace, for a 7-1 lead. Feldsher and Baptista added kills for a 12-4 advantage, and Elman reached double-figures with a pair of kills for a 18-10 lead. Baptista delivered a kill for a 20-15 advantage. Alicja Wilk and Skylar Wine stretched the lead to 22-17, with Elman tallying back-to-back kills to set up match point. Wine delivered the match-winner with a kill from Shelton for the 25-18 sweep.

In four seasons with the Tigers, Elman has recorded 1285 kills, which ranks 12th in Pacific history. Her 1339 digs is fourth all-time at Pacific, while her digs per set (3.23) ranks sixth, her points (1486.5) and points per set each rank 14th, and her 119 service aces rank 26th.
