Hayward, Calif. - In their first meet of 2016-17, the Pacific women's swim team came away with the win in the three-team competition.  The Tigers won ten of the 14 events in the meet hosted by Cal State East Bay to start the year.  Pacific will return home next for the Pacific Invitational beginning on Friday, October 21 at 7:00 pm.

Pacific took both relays on the day, with the team of Isabella Green, Semaj Walker, Kenna Ramey, and Vaiva Gimbutyte winning the 200 Medley and Ramey, Meredith Lillie, Jillian Hatch, and Becca Aguilar winning the 400 Free.  In the 200 Medley, Pacific swam a 1:10.79 and in the 400 Free the Tigers put up a 3:33.15.

Ramey added wins in the 100 Fly and 50 Free to her relay titles.  In the 50 Free, Ramey swam a 23.96 to beat out Gimbutyte, who took second with a 24.02.  Ramey had a time of 56.30 in the 100 Fly, more than two seconds faster than any other competitor.

Gimbutyte got a win in the 100 Free with a time of 52.40.  Her fellow senior Whitney Jorgensen also got a win when she swam a 2:06.33 in the 200 Back.  Jorgensen would pick up a second-place finish in the 200 IM with a 2:08.50.

Pacific's freshmen had a great day as well.  Kira Thomas won the 1000 Free in her first ever collegiate race, swimming a 10:17.55.  Walker also had a win, taking the 100 Breast with a time of 1:07.02.  Angela Gagliardo and Taylor Hosmer also won events, with Gagliardo swimming a 2:25.51 in the 200 Breast and Hosmer putting up a 5:12.26 in the 500 Free.

Brigid McNally finished third in the 1000 Free and second in the 500 Free to add to Pacific's strong day for newcomers.  McNally swam a 5:16.28 in the 500 and a 10:45.97 in the 1000.
