The Pacific Tigers defeated the Saint Louis Billikens 3-0 Sunday afternoon, running their record to 2-3 on the season.  It was the last of a five-game home stand to start the season for the Tigers, who will travel to play VCU on Friday at noon.  The Billikens fall to 0-5 this season with the loss.  Coach Andy Smith said "we took advantage of some opportunities" en route to the win, capitalizing on a penalty stroke in the first half.

Ali Campos opened the scoring with a penalty stroke goal, the first penalty stroke awarded to Pacific this season.  Campos beat the goalie at 11:43 going to her left to make it 1-0.  Campos added a second goal five minutes later when Nicole Laskosky found her with a cross.  The junior sent home a one-timer before the goalie could react to add to Pacific's lead.

Laskosky added a goal of her own in the second half, taking a pass from Axelle Steffen and sending a shot from a tough angle high off the goalie's pads and into the net to make it 3-0.  It was Laskosky's first goal of the season.

The Tigers stayed on the attack for much of the game, managing to get 24 shots and 13 shots on goal.  "Saint Louis battled really hard the entire game" said Smith, as the Billikens were able to successfully fight off numerous chances for the Tigers in order to keep the game close.

The win went to Laura Pujade in goal, who stopped the only shot on goal she faced in 55:50 before being relieved by Jessie Niccum.

Pacific's next home game will be September 27 when the Tigers take on Missouri State at noon.
