Stockton, Calif. - Picking up where they left off the night prior, the Pacific volleyball team made short work of Rider, 3-0, on Saturday, August 30 during the morning session of the 36th Annual Community Bankers Classic. The Tigers remained perfect on the year with their second-straight sweep at the Spanos Center while the Riders fell to 0-2 on the year. The win for Pacific set up a championship match against No. 5 USC to end the tournament at 7:00 pm later in the day.

Set scores for the match were: 25-16, 25-11, 25-11.

Just as she did to open the tournament on Friday night, sophomore Lexi Elman was nearly unstoppable on the pins for the Tigers as the second-year outside hammered the Broncs for 15 kills on 26 attacks while hitting a career-best .462. Her stellar hitting day led the Tigers to a .366-to-.000 hitting advantage as Pacific's setters, junior Kimmy Whitson and freshman Andie Shelton, kept the Broncs' defense guessing throughout the afternoon.

Elman started the match fast as she grabbed six kills in the opening set to pace Pacific's attack. However, it was the Tigers' middles that allowed Pacific to slowly pull away from Rider in the first frame as sophomore Alicja Wilk tallied four kills on just seven attacks while senior Gillian Howard racked up three blocks. With the offense and the defense running smoothly, the Tigers were able to show off all facets of their game in the opening set as it was the service game of junior Mia Feiner that finished off the Broncs in the end as she ran off five-straight points, including a pair of aces, to end what would be the closest set of the match.

With the first set in hand, the Tigers put it into another gear in the second set, starting fast and never letting up to run away with their first of two, 14-point wins. Again, it was Elman that got the Tigers rolling as the sophomore ran off three-consecutive kills on Pacific's own serve to start the set. She would end up missing on just two attacks in the set to finish 5-0-7 in the frame while on the right-side senior Katy Tagart added a second dimension to the attack with three kills on just four swings. Once again, the Tigers' block was on point as Pacific posted 4.5 team blocks as Howard got her hands on all four blocks.

In the third-set, the Tigers turned a close set into an easy win as they went on a 12-1 run to turn a 9-8 advantage into an insurmountable, 20-9, lead. Offensively, Shelton and Howard led the Tigers' to a nearly flawless frame as Pacific committed just one error early in the set to finish hitting .500 (14-1-26). Finishing strong, the Tigers' outsides, Elman and junior Anne-Sophie Bauer put the Broncs away with nine combined kills on just 13 swings. Fittingly, it was Pacific's block that ended the match as the Tigers tallied 11.5 combined blocks in the contest led by Howard's season-best nine.

Overall, Shelton and Howard combined for 31 assists with the younger setter posting 16. Behind Elman's 15 kills, Bauer ended her day with eight kills while Tagart finished with six and Wilk tallied five. Wilk showed an all-around game as the second-year middle led the way with nine digs to go along with a pair of blocks.
