WCC Champ Byron Meth Heading To Eugene For The NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind.— With the 2014 NCAA Regional tournament just around the corner, Pacific junior Byron Meth is heading to Eugene, Ore. to take part in the postseason tournament. Meth will join nine other individuals and 13 teams including fellow WCC golfers, Cory McElyea (USF), Tyler Torano (LMU), and Frederick Wedel (PEP) at the Eugene Regional. The players will be playing the Eugene Country Club.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 15-17.  Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. The finals will be conducted May 23-28 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. Wichita State is the host institution for the 2014 championships.

Meth earned his spot in the NCAA Regionals after a run-away performance at the WCC Championships last month when the junior won the annual tournament by seven strokes at eight-under par. Meth won the Tigers' third-straight individual championship title and is making his second appearance in the NCAA Regionals after the Tigers made the tournament as a team in 2013. In 2013, Meth finished his regional event at even-par at the Pullman Regional.
