Irvine, Calif. - The Pacific women's water polo team split it's final day at the UC Irvine Invitational with a 9-7 loss to No. 18 San Diego State and 13-3 drubbing of Bakersfield in the Tigers' finale.
Gracie Smith scored five goals, while Brydie Pye and Taylor Adair each added four and Malena Prlain three.
Against Bakersfield, the Tigers and Road Runners were knotted up at 1-1 after a quarter before Pacific exploded with a 4-0 second period. The Tigers poured it on with a five-goal third, for a 10-3 lead and brought it home with a three-goal fourth.
Smith scored all five of her goals against the Road Runners, while Prlain posted a hat trick. Adair and Brydie each tallied twice in the contest, while Chelsea added a score.
Meghan Nee record 15 saves while limiting Bakersfield to just three goals.
Pye and Adair scored twice each in the first game of the day, but Pacific fell to No. 18 San Diego State. Pacific led 5-2 at halftime, but the Aztecs posted a 3-0 third quarter and tallied four fourth-quarter goals for the win. Rebecca Wright, Elise Martin, and Weir added goals for Pacific.
Nee posted nine saves, but San Diego State's Melanie Merritt recorded 11 to keep the Tigers at bay.
The Tigers move to 5-10 on the season and are back in the pool March 15-16 at the Michigan State Invite.
