Women's Water Polo Falls In Home Opener To Stanford

Stockton, Calif. - Taylor Adair scored twice for the Pacific women's water polo team, but the Tigers fell in their home opener to No. 2 Stanford Saturday, 15-4, at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.

Gracie Smith and Elise Martin also added goals for Pacific. The Tigers fall to 4-7 overall, while Stanford improves to 6-0.

Stanford jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as Annika Dries scored twice. The Cardinal added another six in the second quarter before the Tigers put one in the back of the net.

Adair's first came in the third quarter, and Martin tallied with 26 seconds left in the period, but Dani Jackovich's four goals gave Stanford a 15-2 lead after three.

In the fourth, Smith and Adair tallied the only goals of the period.

Through 11 games, Adair now leads Pacific with 26 goals on the season.

Pacific will head to the UC Irvine Invitational for matches on Saturday and Sunday.
