Box Score Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's soccer team wrapped its inaugural season back at the Division I level Saturday night with a 2-0 loss to Saint Mary's.
Max Mirner headed home a corner kick cross in the 16th minute, and Michael Semenza slid a breakaway shot unto the back of the net in the 65th.
Freshman goalkeeper Josh Adachi posted three saves in goal for Pacific, as did Gaels' keeper Andre Rawls to earn the clean sheet.
Saint Mary's outshot Pacific by a narrow 18-15 margin. The Tigers close the season at 3-15-0 overall, 1-6-0 in West Coast Conference play. The Gaels finish their regular season at 12-5-2 overall, 5-2-0 in WCC action.
In the 16th minute, Semenza drove his corner kick on a low line drive to the far post, where Mirner headed it inside the pipe for a 1-0 lead.
Tyson Fox had a shot blocked in the 28th minute on his attempt to equalize before half. The Gaels out-shot the Tigers 11-4 in the first frame.
In the second half, Julio Cervantes chance in the 47th minute was blocked by the defender. Tristan Blacmkon's header in the 52nd was just wide, and Ochoa ripped a shot into the defense in the 53rd.
Rawls posted back-to-back saves on attempts by Cervantes and Aldama in the 62nd and 63rd minute.
On the 65th, Semenza muscled a Tiger off the ball at midfield and took a run down the middle of the field before sliding it under the keeper and into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Blackmon ripped a shot from just outside the box over the bar in the 75th minute, and put a header high in the 83rd.
The Gaels nearly had a third tally in the 87th, but Keenan Whyte saved a ball on the line off the foot of Antonio Lokossou.
The physical match featured four cautions issued and 34 fouls.
