Santa Barbara, Calif. - The No. 20 Pacific women's water polo team fell to No. 10 Long Beach State, 9-4, Saturday, in the Tigers second game of the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invite.
Rebecca Wright, Taylor Adair, Gracie Smith, Brydie Pye all scored for Pacific, but the 49ers pulled away with a four-goal third quarter.
Meghan Nee made seven saves in goal for the Tigers, who fall to 1-2 on the season.
Pacific trailed 2-1 after the first quarter, but tallied a pair of second-quarter goals. But Long Beach State recorded a pair in the second half to take a 4-3 lead into halftime.
The third quarter was all Long Beach, as the 49ers scored four goals and kept Pacific off the board. Each team tallied a fourth-quarter goal as Long Beach State improved to 1-1 on the season.
Coriann Snyeder posted the hat-trick for Long Beach, while Justine Morgan and Kayla Robert each added two. Emily Matheson and Hillary Veslik also provided goals for the 49ers.
Pacific will face No. 15 Cal State Northridge at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, and wrap the UCSB Winter Invite with a game against No. 3 UCLA at 3:00 p.m.
