Philadelphia - The Pacific Field Hockey team found the City of Brotherly Love friendly this afternoon, besting the Saint Joseph's Hawks at Philadelphia's Ellen Ryan Field, 3-2 in 2OT. The win was the first of the year for the Tigers, who are now 1-4. Saint Joseph's falls to 1-6 on the season following the double overtime loss.
The win was the first as Head Coach of the Tigers for Andy Smith, who took over the job before this season began. The Pacific defense and goalkeeping held strong despite 25 shots and 17 penalty corners for the hosts.

Melissa Maultsby a pass from outside the arc and the forward powered it home for her second goal of the season, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. The Orange and Black added to that lead in the second half, scoring after a penalty corner was awarded with 15:47 left in the period. Sophomore

Leah Cofer in front of the goal and the redshirt freshman tucked in her first career goal from the near post for a 2-0 advantage.
However, with just 3:12 remaining in the contest, Saint Joseph's got on the scoreboard with a goal from Nicole Gerdes after a pass from the top of the arc following a penalty corner.
Gerdes would quickly score again to tie the score 2-2 after the Hawks were awarded a penalty corner with 1:01 left to play in regulation.
The game would head to the first overtime period where the home team held a 4-2 advantage in shots.
The score would remain 2-2 until just over five minutes left to play in the second overtime period, when senior
Paige Counsman powered home a loose ball in front of the goal to give the Tigers a sudden death victory with her first goal of the season.

Molly Macierz had 10 saves for the victorious Tigers.
Pacific will be back in action Friday afternoon at 12pm Pacific time, as they travel across Philadelphia to face LaSalle on the campus of Drexel University.
