Stockton, Calif. – After taking a week off from competition, Pacific Field Hockey will face perhaps their toughest test of the season as the team travels to Philadelphia, Pa. for four games in four days. The stretch will prepare the Tigers for the type of travel and schedule that it will face during the NorPac Championship in Lynchburg, Va. and the Liberty University campus.
Pacific (0-4) has had a balanced offensive approach through their first four games, with five goals from five different goal scorers including seniors Emily Tregoning, Melissa Maultsby and Maggie Grindatti as well as freshman Katherine Egan and Nicole Laskosky. Defensively, redshirt sophomore Erica Gordon and sophomore Kirsten Doting have added defensive saves while redshirt sophomore Molly Macierz and sophomore Maggie Corder have split the majority of the time in goal.
Tregoning leads the Tigers with three points, and has fired a team high five shots.
The action gets underway Thursday as Pacific takes on Saint Joseph's at Ellen Ryan Field at 12:30pm Pacific time. The Hawks (1-5) picked up their first win of the year against Towson. Shannon McNeil leads the Hawks in goals while Rachel Barnett has 40 saves through six starts in goal.
On Friday, Pacific will face LaSalle at Drexel's Buckley Field in a contest that starts at 12:00pm Pacific time. LaSalle (1-5) will travel within Philadelphia for the neutral site contest. Mariel Papa and Olivia Shoemaker have paced the Explorers with six goals this season while Lisa Shaffer has 57 saves in her six starts in goal.
Saturday includes a matchup with Saint Francis (1-2) at Drexel's Buckley Field. The game will get underway at 10am Pacific. Pacific will look to contain the NCAA Division I leader in Goals Per Game so far this young season, Autumn Pellman. Pellman has scored six goals in three games for the Red Flash.
To wrap up the busy weekend, Pacific will face off with Penn at Ellen Vagelos Field at 9am Pacific. The Quakers (2-1) are led offensively by Jasmine Cole, who leads an offense that has scored 11 goals in three games while Carly Sokach has made 22 saves in goal for the Ivy League squad.
