Box Score Reno, Nevada - The Pacific baseball team steps out of conference for a mid-week matchup at Nevada on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Pacific (10-24) is coming off a weekend series against No. 21 UC Irvine, in which the Tigers knocked off their second ranked team of the season. Pacific posted a 14-13 win on Saturday, scoring a season-high 14 runs. Tyler Sullivan led the way offensively with three hits - two doubles and a home run - while driving in five. Pacific posted its biggest inning of the year with a nine-run fourth inning, as 11 straight Tigers reached base. Pacific's other win against a ranked team came back on March 3, when Pacific came from behind to beat then-No. 2 Arkansas, 4-3, with a three-run ninth inning.
On Sunday, freshman RHP Jake Jenkins turned in his best career start, but took the hard-luck loss as the Anteaters won, 1-0. Jenkins allowed a mere four hits in eight innings and walked none. With Pacific's bullpen low on options due to injuries and usage, Jenkins saved the pen by needing just 24 pitches to get through the fifth (5 pitches), sixth (10) and seventh (9) innings. He allowed the one earned run when he hit the leadoff man in the third, and after a sacrifice and a ground out, a seeing-eye single through the left side accounted for the only run of the game.
The Wolf Pack enter at 19-20 on the season. Nevada won the first meeting of the year, 11-9, at Klein Family Field on March 5. Pacific tallied a then-season high 16 hits, but a four-run sixth inning gave the Wolf Pack the come-from-behind win.
Pacific will start senior LHP Travis Lumby, who will be making his first appearance since March 17 at Creighton. Lumby tossed a third of an inning against the Bluejays, but has been sidelined since due to injury. It will be a scheduled short-stint for Lumby, with the rest of the Tigers' staff backing him up.
