Track Sets Numerous Personal Records At Johnny Mathis Invite

San Francisco, Calif. – Pacific Track competed again, this time at the Johnny Mathis Invite in San Francisco, Calif on Saturday, March 23.

In the 1500m, Mia Knipper placed first in her heat and 37th overall with a personal record time of 4:59.49. Her time was a 10 second improvement from two weeks ago and set a school record. Following Knipper in the 1500m was Becky Grabow and Lauren Nakaso with times of 5:00.16 and 5:14.09, respectively. Rounding out the Tigers in the 1500m was Jessica Guerra with a personal record time of 5:28.91.

Mia Knipper and Lauren Nakaso each improved from two weeks ago in the 800m. Knipper came in with a 12th place finish and personal record time of 2:24.27, while Nakaso clocked in with a time of 2:29.16.

Knipper said of her day, "Running two events was different but a great experience. I felt really fast and having my teammates cheering me on was awesome. Today's meet really propelled us forward as a group."

Lindsay Wourms and Ashley Keeline ran strong in the 3000m steeplechase. Wourms placed second overall with a personal record of 12:01.10. Keeline improved by 48 seconds from two weeks ago with a time of 13:08.25 to place seventh overall.

Wourms added about the day, "Today was really exciting.  It was great to have everyone have such a great day."

In the 100m, Jenna Vivian clocked in with a time of 14.13. It was her fastest time of the season.

Head Coach Josh Jones talked about his team's effort saying, "Today we really wanted to work on our aggressiveness as runners and compete.  We have been really caught up in our splits and race strategy that we forget to go out there and race against other runners."

He added, "The ladies ran great today, in the 1500m Mia and Becky really got out and took control of their heat and ran some great times.  Lindsay ran a great race and will continue to improve moving forward. I believe Ashley had the greatest individual performance in relation to improvement. She dropped 48 seconds from last week for a 3000m steeplechase. Everyone had their fastest times of the year and a lot of personal records, you can't ask for more as a coach."
