Box Score Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Field Hockey team will head to UC Davis on Friday to take on the NorPac West rival Aggies in the regular season finale for both teams. Each team will enter with identical 4-12 (2-3 NorPac) records.
The game, between teams tied in the conference standings, will have seeding implications for the NorPac conference tournament, which starts November 7th in Lynchburg, Va. Stanford, who has clinched the division title, will travel to California Thursday in the other game with NorPac implications.
The Tigers will look to rebound quickly from a 3-0 loss to No. 11 Stanford on Monday night. The Pacific defense and sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Corder were able to hold the Cardinal to one goal in the first half, but the Tigers had multiple scoring squandered or stopped by Stanford goalkeeper Dulcie Davies throughout the night.
UC Davis is coming off of a 5-1 loss to then No. 19 Iowa on Sunday in Iowa City. Jamie Garcia scored the lone goal for the Aggies in that contest.
These two teams last met on October 18th at Maxwell Family Field in Berkeley, Calif. Pacific doubled up the Aggies, 4-2, with Emily Tregoning scoring a pair of goals in the second half to clinch the victory for the Orange and Black.
On Friday, Pacific will travel to Aggie Stadium in UC Davis, where the host Aggies are undefeated on the unique synthetic turf surface, including a 3-2 victory over then No. 6 Stanford. Jamie Garcia leads the Aggies with 15 points on the year, including five goals and five assists, while Cloey LemMon has 13 points (four goals and five assists).
Pacific will rely on senior leadership from Emily Tregoning, who has 17 points on the season, including seven goals and three assists, to lead the team. Senior Melissa Maultsby has added three goals and an assist for seven points. Freshman Nicole Laskosky has two goals and four assists for eight points.
Following the contest, Pacific will prepare for the NorPac tournament, which starts November 7th in Lynchburg, Va. Opponent and time for the games are to be determined. Stay tuned to PacificTigers.com for updates.
