Box Score Stockton, Calif. - After splitting a pair of contests with California, including a 4-2 victory on Sunday, Pacific (3-7, 1-1 NorPac) heads back on the road for another tough NorPac West test. The Tigers will face the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal on Friday night at 6pm at Stanford's Varsity Field Hockey Turf. Stanford (7-2, 1-0 NorPac) are the highest nationally ranked team in NorPac history heading into the weekend.
The Tigers will rely on seniors Emily Tregoning, Melissa Maultsby and Paige Counsman to lead the offensive attack against the Cardinal. Tregoning has the team lead with seven points while Maultsby has punched in a team high three goals. Counsman was named NorPac West Player of the Week following her performance against the Golden Bears, converting on a penalty stroke and adding an assist in the second half.
Freshman Sidney Brooks also picked up Rookie of the Week honors following a goal in the Tigers' nationally televised triumph in Berkeley while Kelsey Gulledge and Nicole Laskosky added scores in the two games.
In goal, redshirt sophomore Molly Macierz continues to perform admirably, holding opponents to a 2.83 GAA this season while receiving Defensive Player of the Week honors after holding LaSalle and Saint Joseph's at bay during the week of September 16th to September 22nd.
The Cardinal are returning to home off the heels of a 1-1 trip to New York, losing to No. 5 Syracuse and besting No. 11 Albany.
Stanford goalkeeper Dulcie Davies was named NorPac Defensive Player of the Week after making 22 saves in the two games. Offensively, Kelsey Harbin will hope to lead Stanford yet again. She leads her squad in points and goals, and is tied for the team lead in assists.
Looking ahead to next weekend, Pacific will be in Iowa City, Iowa for a pair of contests, facing Indiana and Iowa in a short break from NorPac competition before returning to California for the remainder of the regular season.
