Stanford, Calif. - The Pacific Field Hockey team was unable to stop a potent Michigan offense, falling to the Wovlerines, 5-0, at Varsity Field Turf on the Stanford Campus. With the victory, Michigan improves to 10-7 with the victory as the Tigers fall to 4-10 on the year.

Michigan utilized penalty corners to set up four of their five scores, including Rachel Mack's score from Ainsley McCalister four minutes and 55 seconds into the contest to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. At the 8:43 mark of the first half, Leslie Smith would score on a penalty corner, with assists from Lauren Thomas and Jaime Dean to widen the margin to 2-0.

McCalister added an unassisted goal just under 26 minutes into the half, sending a shot in from the top of the circle that beat Pacific goalkeeper Molly Macierz.

The Wolverines would add a goal on a penalty corner after time expired in the first half to take a 4-0 advantage into the period break. Macierz made 7 saves in the first half for Pacific, who was held to just one shot by a tough Michigan defense.

Michigan would add a goal, late in the second half, again coming off a penalty corner, to widen the margin to 5-0.

Senior Paige Counsman fired two shots for the Tigers, and fellow senior Maggie Grindatti tallied a shot.  Freshman Kyleigh Morrison recorded the Tigers lone shot in the first half. Macierz finished with nine saves.

Pacific showed an increased focus on developing different strategies for the remainder of the NorPac schedule, giving 20 different players time on the field throughout the contest.

The focus for the Tigers now turns to a matchup with No. 11 Stanford on Monday, at Varsity Field Turf. The contest starts at 7pm.

The Orange and Black will look to knock off the Cardinal and keep pace in the NorPac West standings race. Pacific will hope to earn a favorable seed in the NorPac tournament, which begins November 7th in Lynchburg, Va.
