Iowa City, Iowa – Pacific Field Hockey was unable to hold off an aggressive Indiana Hoosiers offense, dropping a 4-1 decision at Grant Field on the campus of the University of Iowa. After  the non-conference contest, Pacific falls to 3-9 overall (1-2 in the NorPac). Indiana improves to 7-6 (0-3 Big Ten) after the victory.

Indiana started the contest hot, testing sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Corder early in the first half. Corrine Karch scored just three minutes and 20 seconds into the game off a pass from Sydney Supica to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.

Only four minutes later, the Hoosiers scored again, as Mariella Grote deflected a pass from Danielle McNally that got past Corder, widening Indiana's margin to 2-0.

McNally scored unassisted in the 14th minute to give Indiana a 3-0 cushion. Corder would hold the Hoosiers scoreless, however, for the rest of the half.

After the intermission, Pacific was able to break up Maggie Olson's shutout bid in the 47th minute, as senior Emily Tregoning scored her team leading fourth goal of the year off a penalty corner. Freshman Nicole Laskosky was credited with her second assist for the Tigers on the goal.

At the 49:14 mark, Rachel Stauffer scored to give the Hoosiers the 3 goal lead yet again. Indiana was able to hold a 4-1 advantage for the remainder of the contest.

The Orange and Black recorded nine shots including five on goal and took 12 penalty corners, holding Indiana to just five. Freshman Kyleigh Morrison fired two shots on goal and Corder made two saves for visiting Pacific.

The Tigers will be back on Grant Field in Iowa City, Iowa tomorrow as they take on the No. 18 Iowa Hawkeyes at 11am Pacific time. Video streaming will be avaliable via the Big Ten Digital Network.
