Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific Field Hockey team dropped a 4-0 contest to No. 9 Stanford on Saturday, September 17.  However, the score was not indicative of how the Tigers played at Brookside Field. 

The Pacific defense played great all afternoon. Highlighted by three defensive saves, including two from junior Emily Trudeau and one from sophomore Emily Tregoning. Also, the Tiger defenders turned away 10 separate penalty corners, including eight in the second half.

Sophomore, Ashlee Schlesier had her second double digit save performance stopping 10 Cardinal shots in 70 minutes of play. All of Stanford's goals came within a 13 minute period in the fist half, including two scores from sophomore Courtney Haldeman. 

Head Coach Linda MacDonald discussed her team's play against the ninth ranked team in the country saying, "there was a short time in the first half we let down, but we put a lot of pressure on them in both halves." MacDonald then added, "when the team is focused and their senses are heightened, all of their skills are better. Overall I was very happy with our team's performance." 

The Tiger offense recorded five shots, led by junior forward Dinah Compton's three swings.

The Tigers are back in action at the No. 11 California Golden Bears Sunday, September 25 at 1:00 PM. Then return home for a non-conference matchup against Robert Morris at Brookside Field at noon.
