Box Score Davis, Calif. – Pacific (0-1, 0-1) field hockey opened regular season and NorPac Conference play against UC Davis (1-0, 1-0) Friday night dropping the contest 3-1.
The Tigers struck first after senior Amanda Spellman put a pass from sophomore Emily Tregoning in the back left of the net. The goal came at 14:18 in the first half, as Pacific played strong defense to hold a 1-0 halftime lead. Head Coach Linda MacDonald reflected on her team's performance saying, "Offensively we played great in the first half, but we got tired and starting making mistakes defensively."
Junior goalkeeper
Ashlee Schlesier was outstanding in the first half recording seven saves while facing 12 shots. For the game she had 15 saves, playing all 70 minutes for the Tigers.
All three Aggie goals came early in the second half, as UC Davis took control with goals from Ashley Haight, Kristen Lopez and Emily Mecke. Haight's goal was the game-winner 53 minutes into the contest.
The Tigers threatened several times on offense in the second half, but were unable to get a shot inside the circle.
Pacific continues NorPac play when they welcome Cal for their first home game Saturday, September 3 at 1:00 p.m.
