No. 18 Pacific Defeats Occidental, 7-3

Riverside, Calif. – Taking on Occidental in the second day of the Lancer invite, Pacific's women's water polo team defeated the Tigers 7-3, on Saturday, March 19, 2011. With the win the Tigers improved to 15-8 on the season.

In the contest the Tigers ended the first quarter in a 1-1 tie behind a goal from senior Bethany Quertermous. Pacific then looked to take control of the game in the second frame, tallying three goals while holding Occidental scoreless. Scoring in the quarter for the Tigers was senior Mandy King with one goal while Elise Martin found the back of the net twice. With the 4-1 lead heading into the second half the Tigers notched three additional goals from Martin, King and freshman Chelsea Weir.

Individually the Tigers were led by Elise Martin who completed the hat trick. Senior Mandy King scored a pair of goals while senior Bethany Quertermous and freshman Chelsea Weir found the back of the net once. Freshman Michele Relton recorded 11 saves in the cage thru four quarters.

Pacific continues action at 2 pm against Pomona-Pitzer.
