Tigers Host Fresno State In Final Non-Conference Game Before Big West Play

The Tiger men's basketball team hosts Fresno State on Thursday, Dec. 29 in the final non-conference game of the preseason. Pacific opens up Big West Conference play on Monday, Jan. 2 at Cal State Fullerton. Thursday's game against Fresno State begins at 7:30 p.m., following a women's basketball contest against Cal State Fullerton at 5:00 p.m.

Pacific enters the Fresno State game with a record of 4-6 overall, with all four victories coming at home. The Tigers have lost their last three games, all road encounters. Junior Lorenzo McCloud leads the Tigers in scoring with 10.0 points per game. He is also the team's assist leader, dishing out 3.0 per game. Sophomore Ross Rivera is averaging 8.1 points per game, but is scoring 11.3 points per contest over the last five.

LAST GAME: The Tigers lost 83-53 at Cal State Bakersfield on Dec. 22.

COACH BOB THOMASON:  Former Pacific basketball standout Bob Thomason (Pacific '71) is 407-296 (.579) in his 24th season as the head coach of his alma mater ... Thomason is the Big West all-time wins leader, surpassing Jerry Tarkanian after the 65-57 victory over Utah State on Dec. 3 ... Thomason has 229 Big West wins, which is the most in league history ... Thomason was named CollegeInsider.com Big West Conference Coach of the Year in 2009-10 ... Entering the 2011-12 season, he is the 26th winningest active coach and ninth on the list of Most Seasons With Current School ... After leading the Tigers to a 27-4 record in 2004-05, Thomason was named as a finalist for the CollegeInsider.com Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award and received USBWA District 9 Coach of the Year honors ...
