Pacific Falls to VCU In Final Game Of Road Trip

Box Score

Richmond, Va. – The Pacific Field Hockey team concluded its east coast swing with a non-conference game against Virginia Commonwealth, Sunday October 9. The Tigers battled all afternoon, but fell short dropping the contest 3-0. The loss drops Pacific to 2-9 and improves VCU 4-10.

The Pacific offense attacked the Rams getting five penalty corners and ripping eight shots, but could not find the back of the cage. Head Coach Linda MacDonald said of the offense and team, "this is definitley the best game we played all trip. We had great passing in the midfield. Next step is finding the back of the net."

Juniors Dinah Compton and Doreen Stern each took two shots on the keeper, but were turned away. Freshman Kayley Brown also challenged the VCU defense with two shots, but could not put Pacific on the board.

The Rams got out to a quick 2-0 lead after two goals from Haley McBee in the first half. VCU added another in the second half to put the game at its final score.

Pacific's goalkeeper Ashlee Schlesier turned away nine shots in her 70 minutes of play. She got help from freshman Malia Robertson who had a defensive save early in the second half.

Pacific returns to action against the No. 7 Stanford Cardinal Friday, October 14 in Stanford, Calif.
