Box Score Richmond, Va. – The Pacific Field Hockey team continued its trip to Virginia with a non-conference matchup against the Richmond Spiders on Saturday, October 8. The Tigers battled all afternoon, but fell to the Spiders 6-0. Richmond improved to 8-5, the loss dropped the Tigers to 2-8.
Pacific fell behind early after a shot from Richmond's Rebecca Barry beat goalkeeper Stephanie Douglass. The Spiders would tack on one more leaving the score at 2-0 heading into the half.
Halftime looked to be valuable for the Tiger offense, which came out on the prowl. With just over a minute into the second half Pacific was awarded a penalty corner. Junior Jenna Vivian sent the pass to the top of the circle, and after a pass junior Dinah Compton ripped a shot that forced the Richmond keeper to make a tough save. Pacific continued to battle, but shots from Jenna Vivian and Emily Tregoning could not find the back of the cage.
The Spiders continued their offensive attack netting four goals in the second half. Pacific's goalkeeper Douglass recorded ten saves in 70 minutes of play, facing numerous shots on goal.
The Tigers look to rebound tomorrow October 9, for their final game in Virginia against Virginia Commonwealth at 9:00 AM PST.
