Tigers Drop Final Road Contest To No. 11 Iowa

Box Score

Evanston, Ill. - The Pacific Field Hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 11 Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 23 in Evanston, Ill. The loss drops Pacific to 2-12 on the season, while Iowa improved to 13-3. It was the final road contest for the Tigers squad.

The Hawkeyes struck first after Kelsey Mitchell beat goalkeeper Ashlee Schlesier midway through the first half. It was the lone goal of the half giving Iowa the 1-0 advantage heading into the break.

Schlesier recorded another double-digit save performance, turning away 18 balls while facing 22 shots on goal.

Also, the Tiger defense added to the cause, as Emily Trudeau recorded three defensive saves. The junior from San Jose, Calif. now has seven defensive saves this season, which is good for fifth in the country.

However, Pacific could not keep the 11th ranked team in the country quiet all afternoon, allowing three second half goals putting the board to its final score.

The Pacific offense could not generate much action on the day, but challenged the Hawkeyes numerous times. Their best opportunities came from two shots each by juniors Dinah Compton and Doreen Stern.

The Tigers return to Stockton for their final home contest against UC Davis on October 29 at 1:00 PM PST. It is their annual Pink Game to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. It is also one last chance to recognize the senior class on their home field.
