Tigers Battle But Drop Contest To No. 9 Stanford

Stanford, Calif. – The Pacific Field Hockey team took on the No. 9 Stanford Cardinal, Friday, October 14, in Stanford, Calif. The Tigers (2-10, 0-5) battled all night, but dropped the NorPac Conference game 7-0.

The Cardinal (11-2, 4-0) scored first after Colleen Ryan beat the Tiger defense to give Stanford a 1-0 advantage. Stanford would add another leaving the score at 2-0 going into the half.

The Tigers threatened early in the first half after senior Robin Nelson ripped a shot at the Cardinal keeper after a corner pass, but could not find the back of the cage.

Also, Sophomore Paige Counsman and freshman Tarah Trotter had good looks at the net in the first half, but again could not beat Stanford's keeper.

Pacific's goalkeeper Ashlee Schlesier recorded 15 saves on 22 shots on goal from Stanford.

The Cardinal would tack on five more in the second half to push the game to its final score.

Pacific is back in action when they travel to Illinois to take on Northwestern and Iowa on October 21 and 23, respectively. Then the Tigers return home October 29 for their final regular season contest annual Pink Game at Brookside Field against UC Davis.
