DAVIS, Calif. - After tying the game in the second half to force overtime, the Pacific field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in heartbreaking fashion at UC Davis Saturday afternoon. Senior Kelly Perkins forced OT with her fifth goal of the year in the 55th minute.
Three minutes into overtime, the Aggies' Chloey LemMon scored her second goal of the game for the UC Davis victory, shooting from the right side across the goal box into the bottom left corner at the 73:08 mark off an assist from Lydia Brambila.
Perkins knotted the game at 1-1 in the 55th minute, on a breakaway, shooting to the lower left corner to beat UC Davis keeper Lauren Sawvelle. The goal was the 11th of Perkins' career, as she leads Pacific in scoring with 11 points.
The result drops Pacific to 2-11 overall, 0-3 in the NorPac. Davis improves to 5-7 overall, 1-4 in NorPac play.
LemMon put the Aggies up 1-0 in the 25th minute, as she cut from left to right and placed a shot into the bottom corner.
Redshirt senior Christina Niccum and sophomore Ashlee Schlesier split time in goal for the Tigers, with Niccum playing the first 38 minutes, allowing a goal and making two saves. Schlesier recorded seven saves in 35 minutes of work.
Davis out-shot Pacific 28-6, including a 12-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 22 against Cal. After 12 straight away matches, Pacific returns to Brookside Field for a 4 p.m. start against the Golden Bears.
