Box Score

Davis, Calif. - With temperatures hitting nearly 100 degrees, the Pacific field hockey team outlasted NorPac Conference rival UC Davis to grab its second conference win of the season Sunday afternoon on the road at Aggie Stadium. Pacific (3-6) improves to 2-1 in conference play with the win.

The teams were evenly matched in the physical battle, each taking 17 shots. But it was the Tigers who struck first. Senior Lisa Muhl (Harleysville, Pa.) deflected in the only goal of the contest on a pass from fellow senior Katy McDonough (Ventura, Calif.) just three and a half minutes into play.

With less than a minute left in the first half, Rachel Sabes tried to jump start the Aggies offense by taking a shot on freshman goalie Ashlee Schlesier (San Diego, Calif.). Schlesier's save rebounded back to Sabes who took another shot. That too was saved and bounced out to Erin LemMon who took UC Davis' third shot within eight seconds.

Schlesier knocked out LemMon's attempt to save the Tigers lead. The rookie earned her first collegiate shutout grabbing a game-high 13 saves.

Despite being outshot 13-9 in the first half, the Pacific defense held the Aggies at bay and allowed just four shots after the break. UC Davis fell to 3-6, 0-2 in the NorPac.

Pacific has two weeks off, but will return to competition on October 11 at home against NorPac Conference opponent No. 13 Stanford. This will be the Tigers second shot at the top ranked team after falling 5-1 on the road. Game time is set for 2 p.m. on Brookside Field.
